Enterprises have moved from discussing and piloting AI agents to relying on them for a significant amount of work, Swami Sivasubramanian, vice president of agentic AI at AWS, said during a keynote on June 17.

"If your team is still waiting for you to connect the dots, if humans are still forced to act as the orchestration layer, then your momentum will slip away," Sivasubramanian said.

As part of that shift, enterprises need to strengthen and tune their data and agents, which is the goal of AWS Context, Sriram Devanathan, director of agentic AI and software modernization at AWS, told CIO Dive in an interview.

The service builds a knowledge graph based on an enterprise's existing data, including business rules and domain knowledge, teaching agents how to navigate the organization's knowledge base and find the right answers. According to AWS, it acts as the organization's agentic search layer, connecting all agents with built-in governance.

Agents, whether for security or DevOps, are helping enterprises automate parts of the software development lifecycle, Devanathan told CIO Dive. He noted that at some point, these agents need to communicate with each other.

"All of our agents, to some extent, need to understand which applications matter, which ones need high-priority fixes, where they run, how they run, and how they are built," he said.

AWS Continuum is the company's response toAnthropic Mythosand Claude Fable, Chet Kapoor, vice president of security services and observability at AWS, said during the keynote. The AI security service discovers security threats, informs leadership of actions to take, validates solutions in a sandbox, and suggests fixes for security risks.

"I call it the 'Mythos moment'," Kapoor said. "It significantly accelerated our plans. Mythos set a new standard for discovering vulnerabilities."
